Gap fill : by close
Check out one of our founders explaining this report in the video below:
This report measures where prices tend to close after gaps up/down have filled. In our other reports, we have how often gaps fill but not what happens after the fact. This report shows you how often gaps up that get filled close green vs red at the end of the session & how often gaps down that get filled close green or red at the end of the session.
Lets check out four different scenarios that could play out.
Gap up filled-closed green:
The session started with a gap up. After filling the gap, the session closed ABOVE the previous sessions closing price. This would count as a gap up filled-closed green .
Gap up filled- closed red:
The session started with a gap up. After filling the gap, the session closed BELOW the previous session's closing price. This would count as a gap up filled-closed red .
Gap down filled - closed green:
The session started with a gap down. After filling the gap, the session closed ABOVE the previous sessions closing price. This would count as a gap down filled-closed green.
Gap down filled - closed red:
The session started with a gap down. After filling the gap, the session closed BELOW the previous sessions closing price. This would count as a gap down filled-closed red.
HOW DO I USE THIS IN MY TRADING ?
A gap being filled may affect how that specific session closes, whether it closes red or closes green. Use this data to help you form a bullish or bearish bias for the session.
